    Position Available: Millwork Engineer

    Given our continued growth we are currently in search of a talented Millwork Engineer at our Rochester Hills, MI headquarters. The Millwork Engineer is counted on to quickly and accurately prepare layouts/renderings and machine/production ready drawings for the manufacturing of our millwork product lines. This position is expected to (in some cases with training) maintain and utilize a strong knowledge of both Cabinet Vision and AutoCAD software. This position is also expected to effectively and professionally communicate with internal customers (Project Managers, Production Leaders, etc.) to help resolve production issues, improve existing product lines, and inform stakeholders of the status of required drawing files.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but are not limited to):

      • Quickly render accurate, production ready drawings using CAD software that can reliably be submitted to production areas (CNC).
      • Interpret floor plans, ID sets, architecture drawings and even rough sketches to utilize an array of CAD software in the production of quality/accurate layouts and/or machining files, often under tight deadlines.
      • Maintain and utilize an accurate/organized digital file structure (including naming conventions) as directed by the Engineering Manager.
      • Effectively communicate and help to resolve issues related to scheduling, inaccurate drawings, change requests, and software needs with appropriate internal parties including the Engineering Manager.
      • Maintain current knowledge of preferred Company design software including AutoCAD, Genesis, and Cabinet Vision and participate in Company provided training where applicable.
      • Follow the direction of and standards/workflows established by the Engineering Manager and contribute to the enhancement of such standards.
      • Other duties as assigned by Manager/Company Management.


      REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES (include but are not limited to):

      • Efficient and skilled with AutoCAD and other software used in the design of commercial cabinets/millwork products.
      • Proficiency with computers and MS Office including Microsoft Excel.
      • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
      • Thorough knowledge of millwork production materials & techniques and the ability to interpret floor-plans, architecture drawings, ID sets, and rough sketches.
      • Detailed, with strong time management and organizational skills.
      • Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure.
      • Critical thinking/problem solving skills.


      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • 3+ years of experience utilizing CAD software to create quality/accurate layouts and machining files for manufacturing production in the production of commercial cabinetry and/or desks.
      • Familiarity working with parametric cabinet/desk design software and the ability and willingness to learn a dynamic new platform (Cabinet Vision).
      • Demonstrated successful experience working both autonomously and with others in a fast paced environment, requiring strong attention to detail.


      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Experience with Cabinet Vision CAD software.
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
      • Experience as a carpenter in the production of commercial cabinetry.
